Around the Table

The EBF Mission Core Group is glad to invite you to the Mission Conference in Budapest, Hungary. If mission matters to you, if planting new churches is part of your vision, if you are re-imagining post-Covid church, come to share your own story and listen to the stories of others. You, the co-leaders in your church and your union are warmly invited!

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

At this conference, our theme will be “Around the table.” Christ welcomes us to his table. During this time, we will gather around tables to listen together to stories found in the Gospel of John. These stories about Jesus at a meal table will help us connect with our life and mission today.

We will talk about the practice of hospitality, which starts through the invitation to Christ’s table. Around our tables, we will hear about mission stories in Budapest and other countries throughout Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. This will inspire us to be hosts and to open our tables in our own context. We will learn together how to be guests and hosts at the same time. This conference will include retreat experiences and visits to mission situations in Budapest, that will inspire us to reflect and to be equipped for our own mission.

PROGRAMME

Wednesday, 8 June - Saturday, 11 June 2022

  • Welcome on Wednesday, 8 June from 14:00

  • The programme starts at 16:00

  • The programme ends on Saturday, June 11 after lunch​

The program will involve:

  • Inspirational conversation starters exploring 'Around the Table' from intimate and open perspectives.

  • Morning prayer, evening prayer, bible studies, worship, agape meal and communion.

  • Small group sessions to connect what we have learned in our life and ministry.

  • Sharing stories from different countries about 'Around the Table'.

  • Experiencing the mission of the Hungarian Baptists.

  • Lots of good meals with beautiful people.

  • Creative workshops.

COST

380 Euros single room / 335 Euro in a double room

 

The conference fee includes:

  • Full board accommodation for 3 nights (from Wednesday until Saturday morning)

  • Visits within Budapest Area within the conference

  • Hotel Benczúr (Budapest, Benczúr u. 35, 1068 Hungary)

  • Baptist Union in Budapest

TRAVELING

By air

You will need to fly to Budapest Airport. On their website, you can find the list of airlines and timetables. You will need to indicate which terminal you arrive on when you send your travel schedule. We will send instructions on finding the hotel and church from the airport nearer the time.

By car

Please follow the directions given on the Hotel Benczur website.

COVID-19 INFORMATION

We will provide you with a website with relevant and updated travel information and restrictions regarding COVID-19.

VISA

Please visit the official website of the Consular Services of Hungary to check whether you need a visa or not, and the conditions for obtaining a visa. If you have any doubts, please contact the Hungarian Embassy in your country to check the requirements. If you need to obtain a visa, please contact Helle Liht (helle@ebf.org) to start the visa application process.

PAYMENT

Payments can be made in one of the following options:

  • In cash during the Conference meeting in Budapest.

  • By a bank transfer into the EBF bank account. Please ensure that you mark any transfers EBF Mission Conference followed by your name.

SCHOLARSHIPS

There are limited scholarships available. EBF scholarship funds for the conference will be allocated to those who submit their registration forms and apply for a scholarship by the registration deadline on 30 April. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered. Please note that normally the EBF scholarship covers only a part of the full cost of attending the Conference.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Conference fees will be refunded only when the written request arrives in the EBF office before 30 April. An administration fee of 30 Euros will apply to all cancellations. We regret that cancellations made after 30 April will result in the loss of the entire Conference fee. Please make sure that your travel insurance includes COVID-19 cover!
