This month, we come together in prayer for Iraq—a nation deeply wounded by war and terrorism yet hungry for God. Amidst hardship, our brothers and sisters in Christ continue to stand firm, placing their trust in Jesus.
We are incredibly grateful for our EBF family in Iraq and the few church plants we have been privileged to support. One such church, led by our brother Edmond C. and his family in Baghdad, has shown remarkable perseverance despite immense challenges.
Below, we share some prayer requests and insights from Edmond and his church as they navigate these difficult times:
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13

A Call for Prayer
Our church planter, Edmond C., shares the following requests:
“We ask for your prayers as we continue our faith journey, clinging to the hope that Jesus brings. Please pray for strength and wisdom to overcome ministry challenges and for encouragement to keep others steadfast in their faith. In a world where truth is often obscured, we are grateful for the guidance and support of our Christian community. May the blessings of Jesus Christ be with you and the entire EBF family.”
Faith in the Midst of Hardship
In our church gatherings, we openly discuss the struggles we face in life. There are times when hardships weigh heavily on us, leaving us feeling lost and uncertain about the future. We wonder if there's a brighter day ahead, like in a story with a happy ending. But sometimes, the truth is a bit sad. Instead of a happy ending, we find ourselves at the end of our rope.
However, through Scripture and prayer, we recognize a powerful truth: God has given us a unique privilege—not to escape hardships, but to endure them with His strength. It is not our own bravery that sustains us, but the power and love of Jesus Christ. Instead of a happy ending, we have the Lord's love and guidance, which gives us the strength to overcome any challenge. With Jesus by our side, we press on, supporting and praying for one another as a faith community.
Challenges Facing Iraq
The situation in Iraq remains highly unstable. The country continues to grapple with economic struggles, lack of basic services, currency fluctuations, soaring market prices, and political turmoil. These challenges affect the daily lives of all Iraqis, including our church members.
At times, the burdens seem overwhelming, and faith is tested. Yet, we praise Jesus, who sustains us through every trial. The hardships may grow, but God remains steadfast, working out His divine plan of salvation.

A United Faith
Regardless of what lies ahead, we stand together in faith, lifting one another up in prayer. We believe in Jesus Christ, whose love can redeem even the deepest pain and suffering for those who trust in Him. May our faith be unwavering as we continue to walk this journey, knowing that His grace is sufficient for us all.
Let us keep Iraq and our brothers and sisters there in our prayers, trusting that God’s light will shine even in the darkest of times.
