Jesus Changing Lives on the Streets

We are incredibly blessed to have two church planters and their families serving in Azerbaijan. As we pray for all church planters, we are excited to share the story of one of them, Elmedin. He is a living example of Jesus' transformative power, changing lives on the streets of the city in a truly remarkable way.

We want to encourage you to pray with us and to continue interceding for this nation—so hungry for God, so in need of the good news of salvation, so in need of Jesus. Pray for unity between the churches, between brothers and sisters with different cultures and languages.

Words from our brother and church planter, Elmedin:

I want to share an encouraging story. I saw a man on the road, gave him an audio Bible, and told him about Jesus Christ—that faith in Jesus would bring healing. A woman named Sabina also shared her testimony:

"Since I got sick, I have been to many doctors. I went to many mosques. I turned to idols, both dead and living, but no one could give me healing or help."

Sabina was paralyzed and deeply troubled. Finally, she turned her face to heaven, asking God for help and healing—and He answered! I told her and her family that God had sent me to bring them the good news of His gospel so they could believe in Jesus and be healed. I invited them to repent, and they did! Sabina and Fakhraddin repented, and Jesus healed her! Now, I am so happy to see their faith growing. I am thankful for Sabina's complete recovery and deeply grateful to our Lord Jesus Christ for healing her. Every time I come to Shemakha, I meet with them, talk to them about the Lord, encourage them, and we pray together.

This is how Aunt Shafiga, Rizvan, and Hasan also came to faith. I met Aunt Shafiga on the road, shared the incredible story of Jesus with her, and gave her an audio Bible. When I returned to Shamakhi, I visited her home and told her again about Jesus Christ. I shared that Jesus is alive, that He is among us, and that we can know Him personally. Rizvan and Hasan listened to our conversation, and I encouraged them to accept Jesus and repent. Suddenly, while we were praying, everyone repented, and the Lord Jesus stood among us. Aunt Shafiga began to cry and pray to Jesus.

Tural repented in a similar way. As a shepherd, he often pastures his lambs in the mountains. Every time I met him, I talked about Jesus, about David, and about what it means to be a good shepherd. I told him that he, too, needed to repent and be saved. Eventually, Tural accepted Jesus.

Since the last report, so many wonderful changes have taken place. Many people have come to faith and repented. I have given many people a Bible and an audio Bible, sharing with them the message of Jesus Christ so they can decide for themselves—through reading and listening—whether to repent. I always speak about Jesus and invite them to do the same.

It is a great honour and a source of immense joy to share the love of Christ with children and to have the blessing of giving them gifts as well.
