June 20th is World Refugee Day. Each year the Sundays around this day are celebrated as World Refugee Sunday, this year June 20th and June 27th. We invite your union and your churches to take time on one of these Sundays to celebrate displaced peoples in your community, learn more about the reality of refugee and asylum seekers and commemorate the people who have died in the past year trying to make the journey towards safety.
Here are some resources from the EBF and EBF partners to use in celebrating this special Sunday.
Refugee Highway Partnership
Check out the resources developed by the World Evangelical Alliance and the Refugee Highway Partnership (RHP) to help promote and observe World Refugee Sunday. They include refugee stories and statistics, some country-specific resources, and other ways to get involved in refugee work.
Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) invites churches around Europe to commemorate refugees who lost lives in the Mediterranean over the past year. You can read and share this call to action and find more information on orders of service and creative ways to remember the lives of those who were lost on the way to Europe this year.
